We began by covering last-minute information about our hand in and deliverables. This was helpful as a reminder of what to hand in and how this should be done.

The Critique

This was my final critique of first year! Going into this, I was considerably less nervous that I was in our semester 1 critiques. I feel that this is a good point of reflection for myself as we approach the end of the semester, as there is a clear contrast in my attitude to design and criticisms. During our first critique, I was incredibly nervous and purely saw it as something that could end us as humiliating. In contrast, I now go into critiques with confidence as, although they are inevitably difficult as it is putting your work on display, I see them as an opportunity to showcase my work and find areas of improvement.

We used a post-it style traffic light review structure for our critique. As we receive our critique, other people can make note of what they think we could start, stop and continue for our project.

The Feedback I recieved

I received some very valuable and insightful feedback to my project. My tutor, Kyle, gave me a number of areas to improve. These are:

Once my critique had finished, I looked at the micro board to see if my classmates had written any feedback. I was very happy to see quite a range of feedback, as in a previous critique when we had used this approach I hadn’t received any. The notes from my classmates in summary are as follows:
