Shortcuts

Week 8 began with us following on from the previous week with our Figma training. We began by looking at some key shortcuts that we can use in Figma. Shortcuts are useful tools that can be used to easily and efficiently complete tasks.

Some of the commands that we looked at included command+ G creating a group and shift + A opening auto layout. Auto layout is a great time saving tool for designers and very useful for working with companies as it gives clarification.

Furthermore, we learnt the equivalent for mac to windows keys for commands. This was very useful as I was using a windows laptop:

Grids

There are three types of grids on Figma: Vertical (columns), Baseline (rows) and Pixel (grid).

These have a range of different uses, such as designing a poster or creating a website. No matter how these are used, they are key for creating consistency.

Plugins and AI

Something that I wasn’t very familiar with was how many plugins are available using Figma. We were given a list of some plugins that are good for a range of different purposes.
