We began this year with a short induction session to kickstart the year. I was glad to have an actual class put aside for induction rather than jumping straight into class content, as it gave me time to understand what we will face this semester and get prepared for the following week.

We discussed our first project, creating a smartwatch application, and the deliverables that we should aim to meet for it.

We were given some book reccomendations which I will look into as last semester, reading the books suggested was very helpful for my work and understanding our content more. We were suggested to read ‘Cultivating Content Design’ by Beth Dunn and ‘Content Design’ by Sarah Richards for this module.

We also discussed a lot about placements, which I found quite daunting, as the idea of creating my CV, Portfolio and finding a placement feels quite scary at this stage. However, understand the amount of work that I’ll need to put into creating my CV and Portfolio in the coming weeks have mede me feel more motivated to begin planning what I’ll include in these and my designs.

Placements

• on Thursday at 2pm, people may come in for a placement talk, so far whitespace, kakis, eso, cloudsmith, cordon, big motive, dhd (?) are looking placement this year. Study USA placements are an option too
• portfolio, can use square space etc
• CV, Portfolio, LinkedIn
